Phoebe Berglund
is a New York City based choreographer and the founder of the Phoebe Berglund Dance Troupe, creating art for theatre, museums, galleries and outdoor sites. When we connected with Phoebe we were struck by the process of creation in her choreography. As stated in her interview in The Oxonian Review, "characterized by the use of repetitive formal structures, contemporary gestures and athletic physicality accented by classical ballet."
At FOUR, we approach the concept of a 16 piece Collection with some similarities, namely, repetitive formal structures of classic tailoring, contemporary gestures of design and even an intended physicality, in that we don't make stuff to stand around in, we like to work.
We were struck by the beautiful clarity and tight conceptual frame of Phoebe's work and earlier this spring we asked her to take a moment and take some of our favorites into the studio...
and to show just how good our fall favorites measure up...
